Changing Nameservers

Nameservers tell the global internet where your website files and corporate emails are hosted. If you registered your domain elsewhere or want to point your Nupat domain to external servers, you will need to update your nameservers.

Nupat Cloud Default Nameservers​

If you host your site on Nupat Cloud Shared or cPanel Hosting, use these nameservers:

  • Primary Nameserver: ns1.nupatcloud.com
  • Secondary Nameserver: ns2.nupatcloud.com

How to Change Nameservers on Nupat Cloud​

If your domain is registered with Nupat Cloud:

  1. Log in to your Nupat Cloud Dashboard.
  2. Click on My Domains and select the domain you wish to configure.
  3. In the left navigation menu, click Nameservers.
  4. Choose Use custom nameservers.
  5. Enter your desired nameservers into the text boxes:
    • Nameserver 1: ns1.nupatcloud.com
    • Nameserver 2: ns2.nupatcloud.com
  6. Click Save Changes.

Understanding DNS Propagation​

When you update nameservers, the changes do not take effect globally instantly.

:::info What is DNS Propagation? DNS Propagation is the time frame required for internet service providers (ISPs like MTN, Airtel, Glo, Spectranet) across the world to update their cached DNS records. :::

  • Propagation Duration: Takes anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours (usually within 2-4 hours in Nigeria).
  • Checking Propagation Status: You can track global propagation progress using tools like dnschecker.org.
